MEDITATION & MINDFULNESS

"Mindfulness" is simply being aware.

Becoming aware of our thoughts, feelings, behavior and all that we come in contact with.

Through mindfulness techniques, we can become non-judgmental and shift into the awareness of the present moment......which is the only real "time" that exists.

Mindfulness releases the "happy" chemicals in the brain, which helps reduce stress, tension, lowers blood pressure, improves digestion and overall well-being.

Applying these simple but effective techniques to our every day lives gives us the ability to self soothe or reduce different levels of stress.

We become more mindful in our interactions to take a step back to observe a situation and to be less reactive. This ability creates a more balanced state of mind and therefore enhances greater clarity, focus, and safe environment.

"Meditation" is the awareness of "no-thing"

There are many different styles of meditation such as mindfulness, loving kindness, mantra meditation and many more. When we allow ourselves to sit in silence, we activate the parasympathetic nervous system and enter into deep states of relaxation. With continued practice we also enter into the "gap", or the space of "no-thing" which is the space in between our thoughts. It is here where we are not distracted by our thoughts and the pressure from daily living.

The popularity of meditation is increasing as science and research is improving and more people experience the benefits. Here are a few to name:

  • stress reduction

  • controls anxiety

  • promotes emotional health

  • creates self awareness

  • increases clarity and focus

  • improves sleep

  • helps with addictions and pain management
